UI AND UX DESIGN

Most businesses that come to us for UX design already have something live. It might be a website that gets decent traffic but the enquiry form barely gets touched, or an app where people sign up and then never come back, or an e-commerce site where the analytics show hundreds of people starting checkout and only a handful finishing. It works, technically. But something about the experience is losing people and usually nobody on the team can agree on what it is.

We’re a UX design agency based in London and Surrey and we work with founders, product leaders and marketing teams across the UK and internationally who know their website or app could be converting better but need someone to show them where and why.

The work we do sits right at the point where design meets conversion. We look at how your customers actually move through your site or your app, where they pause, what they skip, where they give up, and we redesign around that behaviour so the experience does what your business needs it to do. Whether that’s generating more leads from an existing website or getting users through a complex journey without them needing to think about it, good UX removes the reasons people leave.

Let’s Talk

OUR DESIGN TEAMS PRINCIPLES

What Success Looks Like

The product leader who used to dread the monthly analytics review because the numbers never moved starts seeing the conversion rate climb and for the first time can point at exactly what changed.

The founder whose app was getting downloads but no retention finally sees users coming back because the experience makes sense to them now.

That is what good UX design does, it turns something people tolerate into something they actually use.

Problems We Solve

You have a website that your sales team has stopped linking to in proposals because the experience does not reflect the quality of what you actually sell.

Or an app where the onboarding loses half of new signups before they reach the feature that would keep them. Or a checkout that your analytics say starts strong but leaks at the same point every time and nobody can work out why.

We find where the experience is failing your business and we redesign it until it stops.

We Optimise

Going live is when the real UX work starts because that is when we get to watch what people actually do rather than what the wireframes assumed they would.

We run session recordings and heatmaps and conversion data through everything and some of what we find is small like rewording a button label or removing a step that nobody needed.

But sometimes we find that an entire journey needs rethinking because users found their own route through it and ignored the one we designed. Either way the experience keeps improving as long as we keep looking.

CATCH APP AND WEBSITE UX

Reshaping a booking platform into a digital companion for anglers

Catch started as a booking system for fisheries but the founder could see a gap and what anglers really needed, they wanted to track catches, sessions, blueprints to learn what worked and get better at the hobby they adore. We redesigned the app experience around that ambition and built conversion optimised landing pages for the website. Subscriptions climbed 50% with 35,000 new anglers registering in the off season alone.

ORBUS SOFTWARE WEB DESIGN

Giving a market leader a website their sales team would actually use

Orbus helps some of the world’s biggest brands plan digital transformations but their website was confusing and not attracting the clients they wanted. We rebuilt it on Sitefinity with an atomic component design system so their marketing team could create pages themselves without templates, they could maintain brand consistency and stop relying on an agency for basic content changes.

HURTWOOD HOUSE

Turning website visitors into prospective students

Hurtwood is one of the most exciting schools in England but their website was not converting the visitors their paid media was bringing in at the appropriate conversion rate. We redesigned the user journeys around how parents and students actually make decisions about education and paired that with CRO work that lifted enrolment enquiries while reducing their cost per acquisition.

FAQs

Questions we are asked before we are hired

What outcomes can we expect?

That depends on where you are starting from but we always tie measurable results back to something your business actually cares about, whether that is more enquiries, better retention or fewer support tickets. We always preform user research before to create a strategy that is evidence and not assumptions as thats where we see the most value.

How do projects usually start?

We always start with a lot of questions about you and your target audience before research. We want to understand that you are looking to achieve, what your users are trying to do and where they are getting confused or lost. This should the give us a clear picture to build a strategy around the challenges.

Will you work with our team?

Yes and we prefer it that way. We work closely with your designers, developers or website team or app team people because the best ux and ui work happens through close collaboration not handovers. If you use Slack, Jira, Figma or whatever else we embed ourselves into your operations and share progress as we go so nobody is waiting around for a big reveal at the end.

What do you actually deliver?

Apart from delivering exceptional user experiences you get interactive clickable prototypes, user interface design specs and a component library with documentation that explains how everything behaves. If the project needs it we develop full design systems with tokens, states and usage rules so your team can extend the product without us.

Can you improve what we have?

Yes and that is where a lot of our work starts as we look at your existing productt and run usability testing and analytics to find where people are dropping off or getting frustrated. Sometimes the fix is small like reworking a form or simplifying navigation on a website and sometimes it means rethinking a whole journey in an app. Either way we base every decision on what the data and your users are telling us not what looks good on paper.

Do you build or just design?

We do both. Our ux ui design team work alongside front end developers so the interaction design is tested in code as we go not just in a static file. If you already have engineers we communicate directly with them and share component specs and logic so nothing gets lost between design and web development. Either way you get intuitive interfaces that are designed and built as one thing.

Which sectors do you work in?

We have experience working across most industries including health, education, finance, energy, e-commerce and emerging tech. The common thread is that the ux expertise we bring applies wherever people are trying to use something digital and the experience is getting in the way. Startups get speed and focus, organisations with larger teams get structure and governance but the outcome is the same, an experience that makes sense to the people using it.

How do you handle e-commerce?

A lot of e-commerce UX problems come down to asking people for too much information at the wrong time or burying the thing they came to buy and bombarding them with pops for data capture or offers. We fix those problems first because that is where the efficient gains are.

We work across Shopify, Woocommerce and bespoke software builds.

Can you help with brand and UX?

Yes and we think they should never be separated. Your ui ux design is how most people actually experience your brand so if the interface feels clunky or generic it does not matter how good your logo is. We adapt brand systems for digital use, typography, colour, contrast that meets accessibility and components that stay ahead of where the brand is going not just where it is today.

How do you price and scope?

We break projects down into user journeys and deliverables so everyone knows what is in and what is not before we start. If priorities shift we manage it with change requests or like for like swaps so scope stays balanced and timelines do not slip. Our ui ux design agency is based in London and Surrey and we are transparent about costs because we have seen what happens when agencies are not.

Do you manage content too?

We can yes, we often write, edit and structure content so it fits the design and reads naturally in flow. Good user experience design impact tends to wither if the words on the screen do not communicate clearly so we shape tone, hierarchy and layout together. Sometimes that means rewriting what is there and sometimes creating it from scratch but either way the content and the interface services the same goal and enable users to get where they need to go.

What makes Ronins different?

We are founders ourselves so we know what it feels like to spend money on something and hope it works. Behind every UX project is someone’s reputation and we treat your budget the way we would spend our own. We have the skills to help your product reach its full potential and we think about the future of what we build not just the launch.

We were going in circles until Ronins stepped in, they got us focused, showed us what mattered, and built a solution that didn’t rip out everything we’d already invested in.

Neil Rafferty

The Ronins team have been really great to work with from day one, they bring a wealth of new ideas and always back up their assumptions with data, ensuring the decisions taken are grounded.
